Welcome to the first installment of the Miriam News. Our "news crew" consists of several talented and ambitious students in the upper school. We have been working hard over the last month to learn the various jobs that are needed to create a news cast. Safe Surf
This week Miriam School is talking about Internet Safety. The first of our Miriam Empowers Through Education workshops was held in the library last night. Kathleen Hawkins from Jewish Family and Children's Service came to speak with parents about the dangers facing our children in today's technological world.
The students in Rooms 1, 6, 7, 8 & 9 will participate in the student version of this workshop on Thursday, October 7. Recourses from the workshop are available in the office or can be found on the School Community Page on the Parent Resources page. I encourage you to discuss internet safety tips with your child at home to reinforce what they have learned here at school.

Playground Countdown
The Miriam School playground is almost complete! The students are very excited about being able to enjoy the brand new equipment. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for next Thursday with members of the newly elected Student Council. Aaron from room 5B recently wrote a journal entry using Kid Pix to express his excitement about the new playground. Read More!
Construction Zone
Construction has begun on the new gymnasium. We are very excited that the process has started and look forward to all the amazing activities we will be able to use this space for.
Gearing Up for the Picnic
The parent volunteers are busily putting together baskets for the annual Miriam School Picnic on May 15. Each year the amount of baskets seems to grow making your chances of getting lucky even higher. We hope everyone is able to join us on picnic day for a great day of games, food, music and fun!
