Miriam School is Flipping Out

Over the summer, Miriam purchased 2 new Flip cameras to use during our Extreme Media! summer program. To get the students and teachers used to using these new toys, I've asked each teacher to film a glimpse of their day to share.

World of Wordle

This month the students will be experimenting with their creativity using a website called Wordle. This website allows you to create "word art" by pasting a list of words to create a poster. September 11th Slideshow

Room 8 spent some time discussing the September 11 tragedy leading up to the anniversary of this event. They focused on how the family members of some of the victims have turned a horrible event into a gift of hope. Each students spent time researching various articles highlighting organizations that are now involved in acts of service to others. Below is the presentation that the students put together as a class to share with other students of the upper school.

Compass Treasure Hunt

The students of Room 2 have been studying maps and how to use a compass so they decided to put their exploring skills into action yesterday on a walking field trip. Luckily for us, Ms. Judy lives a short distance away and was kind enough to leave a treat on her porch for us to find. The students donned their wearable compasses and set out to investigate what directions we needed to follow to find our treasure. We also used the high tech GPS method to ensure we found the exact location. All in all it was a fun way to learn how to use a compass!
