100 Projects

Miriam students are busy preparing for the upcoming 100th day of school to commemorate the 100 Year Anniversary of the Miriam Foundation. There are several projects happening throughout the school. Room 1 students are roaming the school and taking pictures of objects to illustrate numbers 1-100. This is quite an ambitious project and they are well on their way to completing it. You can see the results of this project on their classroom wiki page. Rooms 1-3 are also working on a 100 project that has each student bringing in 100 items from home to be displayed in the south hallway outside of their classrooms. Room 5A also has a photo display of the special things they've done in the first 100 days of school and a piece of work from each student along with their personal 100 collections. Room 6 has taken the time to study 100 famous people. They began with presidents and have continued with inventors, Miriam staff members and are currently learning about famous artists. What can see this great learning tool in action outside of Room 6.

Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month the Lofties Sisters, including Mrs. James, will be performing for the students on February 18, 2010. The sisters will be doing 2 performances for the students and will introduce them to spirituals and how these songs were a part of our nation's history.

The Lofties Sisters have been singing together for nearly 50 years and have shared their gift of music at nursing homes, schools, weddings and various local events. Webster Groves even declared Oct. 14, 2009 "Lofties Sisters Day." We are very excited that they have volunteered to share their gift of song with us and look forward to this special event! Read More!
